Originating from India and Pakistan, very few Blackbuck are commercially farmed in Australia. A rather small animal with males weighing in at around 35 kilograms live weight. Recently downgraded one level from the CITES (Convention for International Trade of Endangered Species) List as endangered in their home range, keeping these little fellows is Government controlled and by Permit only. Strict conditions are imposed for their secure containment, including annual audits, on-site inspections of fencing, security features, contingency (escapes) compliance and head counts. We've successfully bred Blackbuck since 1982.
